With our recent growth, we have an opening for a Process Controls Technician. As a key member of the engineering department, you will prioritize, implement, and communicate continuous improvement projects. You will serve as an engineering resource for troubleshooting and optimizing the manufacturing process, participating in the recommendation, design, development, installation, and maintenance of production equipment. Your role will also involve development and programming in the Foxboro Control System and other PLC-controlled systems. Additionally, you will provide technical details to those developing manufacturing process SOPs to maximize yield while meeting customer quality and delivery expectations.
Primary Job Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
- Ensure engineering activities prioritize Food Safety and Personal Safety.
- Implement process improvement projects to address safety, quality, or productivity issues.
- Use data analysis tools to justify priorities and quantify improvements.
- Communicate and collaborate with internal customers throughout all phases of process improvement implementation.
- Provide access to data for Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and control monitors.
- Utilize the Galloway project management system to involve all affected process owners in developing and implementing projects and process changes.
- Provide hands-on support for the Foxboro Control System.
- Ensure engineering conformance to all regulatory requirements.
- Apply Galloway-specific engineering best practices.
- Assist in developing manufacturing process SOPs for new and existing processes by providing internal customers with information about process controls.
- Flexibility in working hours, including some weekend and holiday work.
- Provide after-hours call-in support for the engineering group on a rotating basis.
Required Knowledge, Experience and Education:
- Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in a manufacturing organization, dairy processing preferred
- Demonstrated interpersonal, communication, analytical, organizational, decision making, influencing skills and an ability to implement change and transfer knowledge
- Good organizational skills and ability to monitor and coordinate multiple activities and projects
- Ability to work collaboratively in a highly regulated industry
- Distributed Control System (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controller management experience
- Proven experience in programming and code writing in a Distributed Control System (DCS/PLC)
- Experience working with Foxboro IA control system is desired
- Solid computer skills to including MS Office applications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Industrial, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering preferred
- AutoCad and SQL Database experience desired.
